Louve Dog Rescue is a nonprofit that works closely with kill shelters saving working dogs. Working dogs are a different type of animal where they thrive on work. A working dog will not enjoy a life as a pet and can demonstrate high levels of stress in a shelter environment deeming them aggressive. By seeing their potential over aggression we can give these dogs a chance.
K9 Jennifer Sharpe runs Louve Dog Rescue where dogs find new working positions: explosive, narcotics or apprehension.
Each potential canine is allowed to decompress from shelter life acclimating to a home environment before any training is applied. This can take up to months before any tests are given allowing the dog to learn to be a dog again.
Quality food, exercise, some time to adjust and to know love again is the beginning for all Louve Rescue Dogs.
Dogs going into a life of Law Enforcement is a choice for each dog. These dogs want to work along side a partner and they demonstrate certain behaviors during assessments bonding with their handlers.
A Caine that doesn't demonstrate a propensity for K9 work will never go to a shelter again. At Louve Dog Rescue each dog are trained to walk on a leash, crate training, E-Collar recalls and how to get along with others. Giving them a future for adoption.
Onyx is a very loving McNab 1 year old neutered male. He is from a Modesto shelter and was pulled by K9 Jennifer Sharpe from the euthanasia list. Black dogs as a whole are not adopted from shelters. We do not know why since Onyx is SUPER dog and people friendly.
The best match would be someone who LOVES to run and hike. Onyx's middle name would be the wind in his fur. He is able to run along side the car, horses or the Quad. Running is Onyx's passion Running with his new owner is his soul's dream.
Onyx is crate trained, E-Collar trained for recalls, can be in a pack of dogs and will still listen to his handler and livestock safe. He is best suited for not so young kids since he wants to be the youngster in your life. He has energy and a desire to be couch cuddled. Interested? Just contact K9 Jennifer Sharpe at #(510) 523-4833 located in California.
